ISLAMABAD — The Government of Pakistan observed a Day of National Mourning on Monday, July 13, 2026, as a powerful gesture of solidarity with the State of Qatar following the passing of its former Emir and Father Amir, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
As part of the official decree, the Pakistani national flag was flown at half-mast on all public and government buildings across the country.
Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, expressed deep sorrow and grief over the demise of the former Qatari ruler. In a formal tribute, the Minister highly praised Sheikh Hamad’s historic, visionary leadership, noting that he successfully transformed Qatar into a globally respected, modern economic powerhouse while consistently working to strengthen regional cooperation across the Islamic world.
“His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani leaves behind an enduring legacy of transformative growth that elevated Qatar on the global stage,” the Minister stated.
Minister Iqbal extended his heartfelt condolences to the Qatari Royal Family, the government, and the brotherly people of Qatar. He prayed that Almighty Allah (SWT) grants the departed soul the highest station in Jannat-ul-Firdous and bestows patience, fortitude, and strength upon the bereaved family and the nation of Qatar during this time of immense grief.
