ISLAMABAD — As Pakistan marks its 79th Independence Day, the federal government has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing national growth through education and human capital development, aligning with the vision of the nation's founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Reflecting Quaid-e-Azam’s core conviction that education is essential to the survival and economic strength of the state, the government, led by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and steered by Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, is implementing targeted educational investments under the national economic transformation framework, #URAANPakistan.

On 79th Independence Day, Pakistan Accelerates Human Capital Investment Under #URAANPakistan Framework

ISLAMABAD — As Pakistan marks its 79th Independence Day, the federal government has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing national growth through education and human capital development, aligning with the vision of the nation’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Reflecting Quaid-e-Azam’s core conviction that education is essential to the survival and economic strength of the state, the government, led by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and steered by Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, is implementing targeted educational investments under the national economic transformation framework, #URAANPakistan.

Major Funding Allocated Under PSDP 2026–27

To build a knowledge-driven economy and equip the nation’s youth with modern skills, substantial financial commitments have been earmarked in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2026–27:

  • Higher Education Commission (HEC): Rs. 46 billion allocated to strengthen universities, improve higher education infrastructure, and expand academic opportunities nationwide.
  • Federal Education & Professional Training Division: Rs. 36.3 billion dedicated to improving learning outcomes, expanding school infrastructure, and advancing professional development.

Key Strategic Initiatives

These budgetary allocations are funding several strategic programs designed to prepare Pakistani youth for global 21st-century requirements:

  1. Expansion of Daanish Schools: Broadening access to quality secondary education for underserved students across the country.
  2. Centres of Excellence in Emerging Technologies: Establishing advanced academic hubs specializing in:
    • Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Robotics
    • Big Data & Cloud Computing
    • Nanotechnology
    • Cybersecurity
  3. Quantum Valley Pakistan: Driving cutting-edge research, scientific innovation, and technological development.
  4. Entrepreneurship & Modern Skills: Fostering youth startup ecosystems and aligning educational curricula with global industry standards.

Aligning Jinnah’s Vision with the Future

Government officials noted that by investing in technological innovation, research, and technical training, Pakistan is taking concrete steps toward establishing a self-reliant economy.

As the country celebrates 79 years of independence, the focus remains on transforming the nation’s large youth population into a competitive workforce capable of leading Pakistan toward sustainable development and shared prosperity.
