Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment to Youth Empowerment at UN High-Level Political Forum

NEW YORK / ISLAMABAD — On the sidelines of the UN High-Level Political Forum 2026 (HLPF 2026), Pakistani representatives met with the President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and Permanent Representative of Nepal to the UN, H.E. Lok Bahadur Thapa, to discuss strategies for advancing global youth development.

The high-level meeting centered on key drivers of sustainable development, focusing on empowering young people through quality education, skills training, entrepreneurship opportunities, decent work, and digital inclusion. Both sides also exchanged views on strengthening youth participation in policy-forming and decision-making processes to drive innovation and accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Strategic Focus Areas

  • Skills & Digital Inclusion: Enhancing access to modern skill sets and digital tools to bridge the global economic divide for the youth.
  • Youth Governance: Expanding avenues for young people to participate actively in international policy and local governance frameworks.
  • Roadmap to SDGs Summit 2027: Aligning national and international youth initiatives with the 2030 Agenda to prepare for the upcoming SDGs Summit.

During the exchange, Pakistan reaffirmed its dedication to youth development initiatives at home and abroad, expressing full readiness to collaborate with ECOSOC and international partners to foster greater socioeconomic opportunities for youth worldwide.
