The beginning of 2026 has been marked by a troubling political situation.Tensions and conflict involving the United States and Israel with Iran have severely affected global peace. An atmosphere of anxiety prevails everywhere and the intensity of these developments has pushed the region toward the brink of war. In such a tense environment, a hopeful moment emerged when I had the opportunity to attend an important session held at the Chinese Embassy on March 24, 2026.
The session was titled: “The 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development of the People’s Republic of China.” It highlighted China’s 15th Five-Year Plan Success, future goals and strategic direction. The session was organized following the conclusion of China’s “Two Sessions,” the outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan and the announcement of the 2026 Government Work Report targets. It conveyed a clear and strong message to the international community about China focus on economic cooperation and development through peaceful way.
While much of the world is grappling with war, destruction and instability, China is moving forward with a positive vision and a well-defined strategy. Even in 2026, China continues to prioritize planning and a strong governance system for development, promoting global cooperation and shared growth. This reflects how sustainable development and global leadership underscore the strength and confidence of China’s economy.
China has played a significant role in global economic growth for many years, contributing nearly 30% to global economic expansion. By 2025, China’s GDP surpassed $20 trillion. Despite global challenges such as the Russia-Ukraine war, tensions in the Middle East, and Pakistan-India disputes, China achieved a growth rate target of approximately 4-5%.
China’s core objective is to promote high-quality productive forces, strengthen self-reliance and advance innovation-driven development. The country is rapidly transitioning from traditional manufacturing to smart manufacturing. Development initiatives are ongoing across sectors including education, healthcare, industry and trade.
