ISLAMABAD — Emphasizing that defining 21st-century partnerships will be measured by their ability to solve global challenges rather than short-term transactions, Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Prof. Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhary has called for a renewed, forward-looking alliance between Pakistan and the United States.

Speaking at a dinner reception hosted in honor of a visiting bipartisan U.S. Congressional delegation and executive leaders from the American corporate sector, the Minister outlined a strategic roadmap anchored in innovation, human capital, and shared economic growth.

A Legacy of Strategic Collaboration

Recalling nearly eight decades of diplomatic and economic cooperation, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal pointed out that key structural developments in Pakistan’s economic history were realized through Pak–US collaboration.

“Some of Pakistan’s most transformative development milestones — from the construction of the landmark Mangla and Tarbela dams to the agricultural breakthroughs of the original Green Revolution — were achieved through joint partnership with the United States,” the Minister noted, adding that today’s climate and technological challenges require an equally ambitious response.

Key Pillars of Future Cooperation

The Planning Minister presented a 5-point agenda to modernize bilateral engagement and support Pakistan’s long-term goal of becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2035:

• 🎓 Knowledge Corridor & AI Era: Reactivating and expanding the Pakistan–US Knowledge Corridor and university-to-university linkages to train young Pakistanis in artificial intelligence and frontier technologies.
• 🌾 Green Revolution 2.0: Spearheading joint research to introduce climate-resilient crop varieties and precision agriculture techniques to ensure regional food security.
• 🚰 Water & Climate Resilience: Integrating smart technologies, modern infrastructure, and sustainable resource management to address climate vulnerability.
• 💡 Technology & Trade Expansion: Facilitating direct investments and venture partnerships in technology, energy, mining, and manufacturing.
• 🌉 Diaspora Engagement: Leveraging the Pakistani-American community as a direct bridge for capital investments, knowledge transfer, and institutional collaboration.

Minister Ahsan Iqbal reiterated that the trajectory of Pak–US relations should remain anchored in mutual respect, trust, and shared prosperity rather than fluctuating geopolitical circumstances.
