PDA and KPITB Partner to Accelerate Pakistan’s Intergovernmental Digital Transformation

ISLAMABAD — In a major step toward unifying Pakistan’s national digital agenda, the Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA) hosted Dr. Akif Khan, Managing Director of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB), at its headquarters to discuss intergovernmental coordination and provincial integration.

The high-level meeting between KPITB Managing Director Dr. Akif Khan and PDA Chairperson Dr. Sohail Munir focused on deepening institutional collaboration to accelerate digital transformation nationwide.

Core Priorities of the Strategic Alignment

The discussions centered on establishing shared digital rails and frameworks to create an inclusive and secure national tech ecosystem. Key focus areas included:

  • Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI): Building foundational technology layers across federal and provincial levels.
  • Digital Identity & Interoperability: Enabling unified citizen verification and seamless data exchange between government bodies.
  • Digital Government Services: Expanding frictionless, paperless service delivery for citizens and businesses.
  • Emerging Technologies & AI: Leveraging innovation ecosystems to boost capacity building and economic growth.

A Shared Blueprint for Provincial Success

Underscoring the principle that “digital transformation is a federal blueprint and a provincial reality,” both leadership teams emphasized that the national agenda relies heavily on active participation from provincial bodies.

Under the division of labor, PDA establishes the foundational standards and platforms, while provincial authorities like KPITB deploy and scale solutions tailored to local needs. Regular intergovernmental dialogue ensures that digital systems remain interoperable, transparent, and user-centric across all regions.

Looking ahead, PDA and KPITB committed to sustained collaboration to build a secure, connected, and digitally empowered Pakistan.
