ISLAMABAD — In a major boost to the country’s tech sector, the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA) has expanded its nationwide network to 32 Notified Special Technology Zones (STZs). The initiative is designed to build a world-class innovation ecosystem where local and global technology enterprises can seamlessly co-exist, collaborate, and scale operations.
The expanding network underlines STZA’s commitment to transitioning Pakistan into a knowledge-powered economy through high-tech interventions and strategic regulatory frameworks.
A Nationwide Network for Cutting-Edge Innovation
The 32 notified zones are strategically mapped across major geographical and industrial hubs in Pakistan, providing localized infrastructure tailored to specific tech clusters:
- Key Urban Centers: Spanning infrastructure across major economic zones including Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore.
- Regional & Specialized Hubs: Extending tech corridors into Faisalabad, Haripur, and Attock to tap into regional talent pools.
- Target Sectors: The infrastructure caters directly to high-growth domains such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Aerospace and Defense Tech, FinTech, Blockchain, Hi-Tech Manufacturing, and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO).
Incentivizing Pakistan’s Next-Gen Tech Giants
By bridging the gap between academia, government services, and private industry, STZA’s zones function as collaborative, paperless safe havens for investments.
Enterprises licensed under the STZA network benefit from robust institutional protections and competitive operating advantages, including 10-year income tax exemptions, customs duty waivers on capital imports, and relaxed foreign exchange regulations. Through this continued expansion, STZA is systematically lowering the cost of doing business, boosting IT exports, and creating high-value employment opportunities for Pakistan’s youth.
