LAHORE — The Women Development Department (WDD) Punjab and the Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) conducted an in-depth review meeting to evaluate and strengthen ongoing female empowerment and skill development initiatives across the province.
The meeting was led by WDD Additional Secretary Faiza Ahsan and Policy Analyst Nida Mukhtar, who engaged with PSDF leadership to review key operational milestones, address implementation challenges, and chart a strategic roadmap for policy execution.
Strategic Focus on Key Initiatives
The high-level session centered on two flagship welfare initiatives targeted at improving socio-economic outcomes for women:
- SEHR Program (Digital Skills): Focuses on equipping young women and female entrepreneurs with market-oriented digital skills, IT literacy, and tech tools to foster digital inclusion and remote work opportunities.
- She Threads Initiative: A specialized technical program executed in partnership with PSDF, designed to train rural and marginalized women in high-demand textile trades, facilitating guaranteed job placements in leading industrial setups.
Key Meeting Outcomes
- Identifying Operational Gaps: Both sides analyzed ground-level feedback to remove execution bottlenecks and streamline candidate onboarding across training centers.
- Policy Alignment & Execution: Emphasized aligning curriculum offerings with current market demands to ensure higher employment rates and sustainable income generation for graduates.
- Socio-Economic Impact: Agreed to implement enhanced tracking mechanisms to measure the long-term economic independence of beneficiaries post-training.
