ISLAMABAD — In a major push to expand Pakistan’s digital footprint globally, the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication (MoITT), alongside the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), has announced the successful completion of the inaugural U.S. SLED Procurement Training Programme.
The strategic initiative is designed to equip Pakistani IT companies with the specialized tools and compliance knowledge required to break into the massive U.S. public sector market.
A Rigorous Path to Global Readiness
Over a intensive six-week period, 74 Pakistani technology companies underwent a rigorous curriculum consisting of:
- 76 specialized modules
- 140+ hours of expert-led training
The comprehensive program focused heavily on navigating complex U.S. procurement processes, strict compliance requirements, market intelligence gathering, and advanced proposal development.
Tapping into a $1.85 Trillion Arena
The U.S. State, Local, and Education (SLED) sector represents an estimated USD 1.85 trillion annual procurement market. Historically difficult to penetrate due to stringent regulatory barriers, this sector offers high-value, long-term contracts for international technology providers.
“By strengthening the capabilities of local firms, this programme supports Pakistan’s broader vision of increasing IT exports and expanding the country’s presence in high-value global markets,” the Ministry stated.
Early Success: $22.8 Million Pipeline
The targeted intervention is already yielding measurable economic results. Participating tech companies have collectively generated an estimated USD 22.8 million export pipeline in early-stage opportunities.
This rapid return highlights the immediate competitiveness of Pakistan’s tech sector when given the right market access tools.
A Collaborative Ecosystem
The successful execution of the program was made possible through a joint ecosystem effort. The Ministry extended its appreciation to the PSEB, Collab P, and RedMarker Systems, emphasizing that such collaborations are vital to building a sustainable framework where local tech firms can scale internationally.
Moving forward, MoITT reaffirmed its commitment to launching similar high-impact initiatives to position Pakistan as a top-tier destination for global, innovative technology services.
