ISLAMABAD — Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) hosted an official graduation and welcoming ceremony at its Islamabad headquarters to mark the ongoing success of its corporate partnership with the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMA Pakistan).
The Managing Director and CEO of OGDCL, Ahmed Hayat Lak, presided over the ceremony, distributing completion certificates to the outgoing second batch of ICMA students who successfully wrapped up their one-year paid internships. He also handed over official joining letters to the incoming third batch of ICMA interns.
Strengthening Corporate-Academia Linkages
The collaborative program is structured to bridge the gap between academic financial theory and the practical realities of the energy sector. Key highlights from the leadership briefings included:
- Enhanced Facilities for Interns: MD Ahmed Hayat Lak congratulated the departing interns and welcomed the new cohort, announcing that OGDCL is set to further upgrade the learning infrastructure and facilities available to its interns to optimize their hands-on training.
- Corporate Exposure: The initiative, launched two years ago, targets high-achieving accounting students to equip them with technical expertise within one of Pakistan’s largest state-owned enterprises.
- National Impact: President of ICMA Pakistan, Ghulam Mustafa Qazi, expressed his gratitude to OGDCL management for their sustained corporate support, emphasizing the immense value of giving young management accountants early exposure to complex corporate financial structures.
The graduating interns expressed appreciation for the professional mentorship received during their year at OGDCL, while the new batch expressed high enthusiasm as they officially kicked off their professional corporate journeys.
