KARACHI — A high-level delegation from the Karachi Dock Labour Board (KDLB) called on the Chairman of the Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmed SI(M) S.Bt (Retd.), at the KPT Head Office to map out a modernization roadmap for port labor management.
The strategic meeting focused heavily on aligning KDLB’s operational frameworks with the rapidly evolving technological and logistical needs of the global maritime sector.
During the session, the delegation and the KPT Chairman discussed institutional matters, worker welfare, and operational efficiencies at the docks. Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmed emphasized the necessity of upgrading labor skills and streamlining dock operations to ensure Karachi Port remains competitive, especially as the port continues to welcome ultra-large container vessels.
Both sides agreed on a collaborative future course of action aimed at implementing smarter workforce management and fostering a more resilient maritime ecosystem at the country’s primary trade gateway.
