HYDERABAD: Hyderabad SITE Association of Trade and Industry Chairman Zubair Ghangra has expressed concern and anger over the dilapidated condition of the road from Hali Road to Fateh Chowk. Saying that this road is considered one of the most important highways of Hyderabad’s industrial and commercial system, but it is regrettable to say that today this road is completely in ruins.
He said that industrial zones are the backbone of any country’s economy, and this industrial area of Hyderabad consists of more than 350 active industrial units which are not only providing millions of rupees in revenue to the government but are also providing employment to thousands of people. Despite this, the condition of the basic infrastructure of this important industrial area is very poor, which is a serious problem.
The Chairman said that the Hyderabad SITE Association has been receiving continuous complaints from its industrial members and the relevant institutions and higher authorities have been informed about the situation several times, but despite this, no effective and permanent practical steps have been taken yet.
He further said that the road from Hali Road to Fateh Chowk has become so dangerous that the passage of heavy traffic, trucks, trawlers and other industrial vehicles has become extremely disastrous. Large potholes, broken roads and accumulation of sewage water at various places can cause a major accident at any time. He warned that in this situation, the risk of overturning of heavy vehicles has increased significantly, while it has become extremely difficult and even dangerous for motorcyclists and ordinary citizens to pass through this route.
He said that thousands of laborers, factory employees and trucks loaded with industrial goods pass through this road every day, but due to the dilapidated condition of the road, not only industrial activities are being affected, but industrialists are also facing huge financial losses due to delays in the delivery of raw materials and finished goods.
He further said that the infrastructure situation of the entire city of Hyderabad is already worrisome, however, the condition of Hali Road to Fateh Chowk is the worst as this road is not only for general transportation but also the main artery of industrial, commercial and economic activities.
He pointed out that the ongoing construction work on Auto Bahn Road is at a very slow pace, due to which the traffic pressure and difficulties around the SITE area have increased further. Due to this slow construction, the daily movement of industries, transport and supply chain are continuously being affected and business activities are facing delays.
He demanded immediate notice from the Chief Minister of Sindh, Provincial Minister for Industries, Commissioner Hyderabad, Mayor Hyderabad, SITE Limited and other concerned institutions, saying that the repair and construction of the road should be started immediately on an emergency basis, cleaning of the sewage system and restoration of a permanent drainage system should be ensured, while the ongoing construction work of Auto Bahn Road should also be completed at a fast pace and within the stipulated time so that industrial activities are not further hampered.
He made it clear that if the government is really serious about industrial development, investment promotion and employment protection, then immediate restoration of basic infrastructure is essential, otherwise industrial activities will be further affected and economic pressure will increase.
